Start a Community Safety Campaign in Your Neighborhood

A neighborhood safety campaign can make a dramatic difference in driver behavior around school zones. Street Smarts Diablo can loan community members a limited number of free two-sided yard sings that remind drivers to “Leave Earlier, Drive Slower” and to drive with “Eyes Up, Phones Down”.

Signs can be borrowed for two to five weeks and come with metal stakes for inserting in the ground.

Normal use of yard signs may incur damage, wear and tear, and/or vandalism; safety campaign organizers will not be held responsible for damage. Our goals are to spread the safety message to as many school zones as possible and to keep signs out of the landfill for as long as they are useful; the more use they get, the better!

Decorate Your Bike – Express Your Style

Summer’s here and that means better weather (and more time) for riding your bike. A bicycle doesn’t just have to be a way of getting around town, it can also be a great way of expressing your unique style.

Making your bike an extension of yourself doesn’t have to be expensive. For inspiration, you might look to Oakland’s Scraper Bike Team. Their bikes are often decorated using a combination of tinfoil, cardboard, candy wrappers and paint.

Of course there are a lot of other things you can do to personalize your bike. You can add stickers, attach lights… it’s completely up to you. All that matters is that you enjoy the ride & ride safely.
